Laurel, MS - Red State first reported that philanthropist and environmentalist Michael Bloomberg has donated $250,000 to boost Sen. Thad Cochran’s re-election to the U.S. Senate representing Mississippi.
Politico and Roll Call have also covered Bloomberg’s support, noting that billionaire and pro-marijuana legalization and pro-tax advocate Sean Parker has donated $250,000 to Cochran’s effort as well.
Roll Call: “Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the billionaire owner of Bloomberg LP, and Sean Parker, co-founder of Napster, have each contributed $250,000 to Mississippi Conservatives, a super PAC supporting Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., in his Republican primary runoff.”
POLITICO: “The Mississippi race is a rare spot where Bloomberg, whose main political cause since leaving office has been gun regulation, is on the same side of a fight as the National Rifle Association, which endorsed Cochran earlier this year.”
RedState: “Gun grabbing Michael Bloomberg is trying to buy Thad Cochran’s re-election.”
